Evening Meals

As soon as you walk into the hostel, we you will see our evening menu and beers list up on the blackboard in the hallway, we ask for orders by 6.00 and serve dinner every night at 7.00. Often our guests have worked up a great appetite on the hills and our range of hearty, home cooked meals aim to please! Just click on the link at the bottom of the page for our up-to date menu.

Our 8 hour beef stew with proper mash and cabbage is the sort of meal that is worth travelling for, our hearty Kettlewell fried chicken burger with skin-on-chips, homemade coleslaw, and chipotle dipping mayonnaise is a great choice or perhaps try a warming harissa spiced lamb stew with freshly made couscous and dressed salad?

Our vegetarian and vegan meals are just as good. We make our own beet and bean burgers (which take 2 days to make!), a harissa roast vegetable stew with fresh herb couscous and salad and delicious a slow cooked bean stew with proper mash and tasty cabbage. Much of our menu can be made gluten free if you prefer. If you have any questions about our food, please get in touch, we are really happy to help.

For children, smaller versions of our main meals are available, or we can make fish finger butties with chips and beans or twisty pasta with homemade tomato sauce, grated cheese and garlic bread. We can always find something that they would like!

We try to keep the Menu at the bottom of the page up to date, the menu does change over time and is always hearty and delicious. You can also see our menu for groups too.

If you still have a bit of space left after your main course, there are heart-warming, homemade puddings to tempt you: hot apple and berry crumble, homemade chocolate brownie or our hot ginger cake with stem ginger pieces, all served with Yorkshire Dales vanilla ice cream or hot custard. After a great day walking in the Dales, you’ll deserve it!

We have the very best local craft beers our area has to offer: Hetton Pale Ale which is brewed just the other side of Grassington, beers from Lamb Brewery in neighbouring Littondale and others from The Yorkshire Dales Brewery in Aysgarth. We add new beers from time to time, it is always nice to discover something new.

We also have a range of bottle conditioned Colemans Yorkshire cider and a great selection of wines available by the bottle or glass to compliment your meal.

Breakfast is kind of a big deal around here. From our hearty full English to our great vegetarian and vegan options, all of our breakfasts are made using the very best ingredients to give you a great start to your day.

We have sourced local handmade sausages, Yorkshire cured bacon, free range eggs, hash browns, beans, Yorkshire tea, and fair trade coffee. There’s as much toast as you like and a great selection of cereals to help yourself to including local Yockenthwaite granola. We also have a wonderful vegetarian full English with vegan sausages and roasted baby tomatoes, and a vegan full English with miso scrambled tofu and delicious marmite mushrooms.

If a cooked breakfast isn’t for you, you can choose to have a hot bowl of delicious, creamy porridge with soft brown sugar and cinnamon or just cereal, toast and coffee.

With any breakfast you can help yourself to Yorkshire tea, fresh coffee, juice, toast & toppings, and a great range of cereals. We will send you a current menu when you book.

We ask for breakfast orders the evening before and serve breakfast each day at 8.00 (if it seems early, don’t worry it is worth getting up for!).
