Throughout the pandemic we have been guided by the advice from YHA, UK Hospitality and GOV.UK websites. As government guidance changes so will the measures we have in place.
When we re-open on May 17th, we have limited the number of rooms available to book. Giving each room their own toilet, shower and dining table, greatly reducing the number of shared surfaces. We are really looking forward to getting open again, and we will to do it safely and cautiously.
When restrictions ease, we will open up more rooms, and with enhanced cleaning procedures, more people will be able to share the building safely.
Bookings and cancellations during the pandemic
During National Lockdowns we will be closed until we are permitted to re-open. Although this is entirely out of our control we will try to give as much notice as possible regarding any cancellations.
We are currently not permitted to provide beds in shared rooms, as soon as the government guidance permits, we will re-open our dorms.
If we (Saul and Floss) become symptomatic or are contacted by Test and Trace, we will need to close immediately for a period of up to 14 days. We will contact all of our guests as soon as possible to either move their booking or offer a full refund.
Whilst there are still government restrictions in place, some groups will not be permitted to stay here, depending on restrictions here and the restrictions in your local area. If your booking looks like it may not be permitted, we will contact you by email offering to re-arrange your booking. Please do not attempt to stay here if your party is not permitted as we may be forced to turn you away without refund.
If you are unclear as to whether your booking is permitted under the guidelines at the time of your stay, please get in touch and we will do our best to help.
During your stay
We are operating reduced occupancy and toilets and showers may be allocated to individual groups during your stay.
We have measures in place to help our guests stay safe. We will practice social distancing, hand sanitiser stations are placed throughout the building, anti bacterial hand wash at every sink, and enhanced cleaning processes and measures that limit the number of shared surfaces between guests. We spray the soft furniture with Oxyvir sanitising spray (in the morning when most people are out) and removed many of the cushions which are harder to sanitise.
We have a ‘Book Quarantine’ at reception. If you have spent a little time with a book please leave it in the quarantine and we will keep it 72 hours before returning it to the shelf.
It is currently law that face masks are worn in all shared spaces, this includes reception and the corridors around the building. Whilst you are seated at a dining table or in the lounge, with adequate social distancing from other households, it may be permissible to remove your mask. The use of masks is expected from all guests, please be aware that there are some people who are exempt from this on medical grounds. They may not wish to discuss their medical issues with you, and in the first instance come to us if you have any concerns.
In order to encourage safe social distancing, we have some signage in social areas suggesting a safe number of households that are permitted in each room at a time.
We still offer our full menu with table service, you may be given a table for your exclusive use during your stay.
The government has instructed that all shared kitchen facilities to be closed. The guest kitchen will re-open when we are permitted, this does not affect Exclusive Hire bookings.
Whilst the residents kitchen is closed you can buy a cafetière of fresh coffee or a pot of tea with biscuits when you get back from your walk.
Whilst there are Covid restrictions in place, you will see number of measures in place for your safe stay in the Hostel:
- We have a screen at reception
- Reducing the number of people in the building
- Reducing the number of households allowed per room
- Allocating showers and toilets to individual rooms
- Enhanced cleaning measures in rooms, toilets and showers
- We have wall mounted hand sanitiser units and appropriate signage to remind guest to use it.
- Anti bacterial liquid soap at all hand-washing sinks.
As the guidance changes so will the measures that we have in place. If at any time you are concerned, please find us and we will do our best to help.
